What is the Blood Sugar (FBS/PPBS) test?
Fasting blood sugar (FBS) is measured after an overnight fast. Post-prandial blood sugar (PPBS) is measured two hours after a meal. Together they show how your body handles glucose.

- Daily control check for people with diabetes
- Symptoms like excess thirst, frequent urination or slow-healing wounds
How to prepare
- Fast for 8–10 hours before the fasting sample (water is allowed)
- Take your usual breakfast or lunch after the fasting sample
- Give the second sample exactly 2 hours after you start eating
- Ask your doctor about diabetes tablets or insulin on the test day

Understanding your result
Values above the reference range on repeated tests can indicate diabetes or prediabetes. One high reading alone is usually confirmed with HbA1c or a repeat test.
