Complete Blood Count (CBC) in Perungudi, Chennai
முழு இரத்த எண்ணிக்கை பரிசோதனை (CBC)
What is the CBC test?
A CBC measures the main parts of your blood: haemoglobin, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets, along with indices such as PCV, MCV and the differential count of white cells. It is the single most commonly ordered blood test.
Why is it done?
- Tiredness, weakness or suspected anaemia
- Fever or suspected infection (including dengue follow-up of platelets)
- Routine health checkups and pre-surgery screening
- Monitoring during treatment that can affect blood counts
How to prepare
- No fasting is needed
- Drink water as usual
- Tell us about recent fever, blood transfusion or medicines
Sample
A small blood sample from a vein, collected in an EDTA (purple-top) tube.
Understanding your result
Low haemoglobin may suggest anaemia; a high white cell count often points to infection or inflammation; low platelets are watched closely in viral fevers such as dengue. Your doctor reads these together with your symptoms.
