The Free Thyroid Profile, also known as Free Thyroid Function Tests (Free TFT), evaluates the levels of unbound thyroid hormones (Free T3 and Free T4) and unbound thyroid-stimulating hormone (Free TSH) in the bloodstream. Free T3 and Free T4 represent the active forms of thyroid hormones that directly influence metabolic processes and energy regulation. Free TSH, produced by the pituitary gland, stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones. Measuring these hormone levels helps diagnose thyroid disorders such as hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, guiding appropriate treatment strategies.
